This document will help you with setting up various providers for importing friends using Import Friends plugin.

Facebook

To allow site users import contacts from Facebook, follow these steps:

1. You should create an application here:
https://developers.facebook.com/apps/

2. Once application is created you should do the following:

  • Fill in the 'App Domain' field. Type your website domain (like yourdomain.com, without http: and www) and press Enter, that should wrap text in a blue rectangle.
  • Scroll down where it says 'Website', click on it and paste your site URL (with http: and www if applicable) into the Site URL field.

Pay attention to the App ID and App Secret (marked with red), they will be used in the step 3.

3. Go to Admin Panel > Plugins > Installed Plugins > Contact Importer > Settings section. Fill 'APP ID' with value from step 2.

Installation completed.

Google

To allow site users import contacts from Google, follow these steps:

1. You should create an application here:
http://google.com/friendconnect/

2. Click on the 'Add new site' and fill all the forms using your website URL and title.

3. Once you click 'Continue', you have three ways to obtain your Site ID number (marked with red):

a. Copy and the 20-digit site ID from the URL.

b. Go to 'Plug-ins &APIs' section, select the 'Javascript API' (opened by default) tab, scroll the textarea down where you can see the same 20-digit Site ID number.

c. Go to 'Plug-ins &APIs' section, select the 'REST API' tab, and copy the 20-digit Site ID number from the Consumer Key section.

4. Go to Admin Panel > Plugins > Installed Plugins > Contact Importer > Settings section. Fill 'Site ID' with value from step 3.

Installation completed.
